 These are some images that I did for a publisher about the magical journey of an adventurous girl and her loyal and friendly dog.

Oil painting color key

This is a color key studio for an oil painting that I will start this week.  I made it with photoshop and it took me about 60 min to finish it.

Nib Characters

In this characters studio I decided to go for the nib; It's difficult to control, but you can achieve very cool line results at the end.  Copic markers are always a very good help too!

Old Spanish Knight

Again some sketches with the copic markers.  This time a studio of a grumpy but honorable old spanish knight.

Castle in the Clouds Sketch

I have just started to use my new Copic markers and I think they are really awesome; almost watercolor-like at some points.  They allow you to create a lot of different tones and the shades can look incredible.

An Unwanted Journey

Well, this is the first book that I have illustrated and now it's been published; An Unwanted Journey (Creative Accompaniment in Paediatric Palliative Care) Authors: Rubén Bild / Iván Gómez.  Plamienok Books.  Plamienok is a NGO that works with children and teens that have terminal diseases and help them to go through all the process relieving physical and emotional pain.  In the pictures I tried to show neither sadness nor happiness but calm, acceptance and hope.

Oil painting

This is an oil painting that I finished this week.  It took me about 7 hours to have it done.  I wanted to play with light and the environment, in the sense that there's a warm atmosphere that embrace everything and it's reflected by the water contaminating the whole canvas.  The blue colour is the other important side of the balance, giving the image a more melancholic and sad feeling, which is something that I wanted to achieve for this theme; the solitude of this Gollum like character.

The new Exorcist arrives in town...

The last exorcist died in strange circumstances, so the villagers asked for a new one; and here he is! In this one I have tried new pencils in order to make it look more pictorial, almost impressionist.

Manticore

Another mythological creature design, this time the Manticore.  You can clearly see Akkadian elements here; it looks almost as if it were guarding one the great palaces of the ancient Babylonia.

The Gorgon

This is a character design of the well known mythological creature called the Gorgon.  I wanted to show a mix between an old woman an different types of snakes, like the black mamba or the rattlesnake.  It had to look creepy and dangerous.

The Divine Comedy

Dante and Virgil are walking through the Purgatory.  In a desolated and grey world, the condemned souls are attracted by the light that is sensed out by Virgil and Dante's coats.  Here I wanted to play with the contrast of the desaturated colors of the Purgatory and the saturated ones of the two main characters.

Destruction of the Painting Realm!!

Concept art for an imaginary realm made of pure paint.  Suddenly, something comes from the sky; an evil and cloudy elemental-like being that starts to melt down and to absorb the whole kingdom.

Environment for videogame.

Concept environment based on a japanese village from the XIX century.  I wanted to show the difference between the heat you can feel under an afternoon sun, and the coolness you notice when you enter an alley covered by the shadows.

The terrible fairy eater!

A character concept design of a twisted and scary being whose only purpose in this world is to eat as many fairies as he can.  Although made with a cartoonish style I really wanted to make him look dark and creepy. 

Better watch out what you wish for.

A little bit of sense of humor is always necessary in life.

Maybe it was just a dream...

Batman has always been my favorite superhero, so I had to draw something about him.  This somewhat is based on a BTAS episode called "Perchance to Dream".  Basically Batman has been caught by the Mad Hatter using a weird machine that creates a permanent dreaming state in its victim.  Here an old an overweight Batman realises that he's dreaming when he is unable to read the newspaper cause nothing seems to make sense.
